Misting Spray? So Many Reasons You Absolutely Need It!

misting spray foiling

Okay… true confession. I’m not a beauty maven or makeup expert, so when I first heard that Young Living had released a Misting Spray I had no idea what it was for! I’d never used mineral makeup before, so really hadn’t come across misting spray. Turns out though, it’s a very handy tool to have in your makeup bag.

Why Misting Spray?

  • Firstly, misting spray helps you to take control of your mineral makeup application. To begin with, lightly spray your makeup brush before applying mineral powders for a silkier appearance. Because you need your brush to be a little wet to pick up the minerals and apply them to your face.
  • Secondly, it gives an extra hydration boost to your skin when applying your makeup. This is a particularly good idea if you have dry skin.
  • Thirdly, the Savvy Minerals by Young Living™ Misting Spray is made with pure trace minerals and entirely plant-based ingredients. The Misting Spray gives you more thorough foundation coverage, all while nourishing and freshening your skin. The aloe is what gives it the silky finish!

Made with pure essential oils, the signature aroma of the Savvy Minerals misting spray, allows you to step into your day looking flawless and feeling confident. Equally important, this product has a light, uplifting fragrance with hints of Lavender, Cedarwood and Rose.

The Misting Spray is NOT a setting spray. There’s no need to set mineral makeup. It sets as it dries after you apply it wet from misting your brushes before application. Don’t spray the Misting Spray on your face or your makeup will look spotty!

Foiling using the Savvy Minerals Misting Spray

Looking for a way to REALLY make your eye makeup pop and last? Then try enhancing your eyes or lips with “foiling”. It’s a popular technique that involves applying eyeshadow to create a shiny, foil-like effect by applying it wet vs dry. You can see this effect on the model in the featured image above this post.

Foiling is like “painting your eyeshadow on” – it helps the pigment to bond together so it gives you a REALLY deep dimension to the colours, and it really stays on well… even better than it stays already. It creates a more solid, uniform and pigmented look. For visual impact, contrast AND intensity. Or, just to keep your makeup on ALL DAY.

We can do this with the Savvy Minerals makeup line! The eye colours, blush, bronzer, multi tasker and jet setter eye liner can all be foiled. You can foil them on eyes and lips as a lip colour, a lip liner, eye liner and eye shadow. You can use the foiling technique to line your eyes. It will make your gorgeous eyes POP! Try foiling your entire eye lid. Why not? Go for the glam!

When you purchase one eyeshadow from Young Living not only are you getting a great product that is good for your skin, but the colour can technically be two shadows in one! By using Savvy Misting Spray with the shadow you are making it more opaque, dramatic, sparkly….and not to mention longer lasting! This technique is called foiling. The bottom row is just regular eyeshadow and the top is the foiled shadow.

How to Foil with the Savvy Mineral Misting Spray

I like using the Savvy Minerals misting spray for extra staying power when foiling. For eye and lip lining, you need a fine tip eye liner brush. To foil your eye lid, you will use your eyeshadow brush.

Step 1. Firstly, shake a bit of your favourite colour into the lid. Always use the lid of your jar to mix your minerals with a damp brush. (DO NOT add liquid to your minerals inside the jar itself)

Step 2. Then get the brush damp by spraying it wiht the Savvy Mineral Misting Spray. Now, make sure your brush is damp – not soaking wet. Mix your Minerals in the lid with a damp brush.

Step 3. Tap off excess. It shouldn’t be overly runny and should be more pigment than liquid. Play around with the liquid to mineral ratio to see what works for you.

Step 4. Apply directly onto the eyelids or lips in a patting or sweeping motion. Repeat this step until you have achieved the intensity you want. Once the colour has dried completely, blend off the edges. Feel free to add in other colours as desired. That is why Minerals are so much fun!

Spray 2-3 pumps of misting spray onto a makeup brush and gently wipe off any excess moisture. I wipe it on the back of my hand. Pick up mineral makeup using the brush. Apply mineral makeup to your face in desired area and reapply as needed.
