5 Essential Oil Blends

Are you interested in creating your own essential oil blends?

Using your essential oils to create personalised scents not only allows you to smell amazing – it ensures you are enjoying a fragrance that is safe for your body and those around you.

Why make essential oil blends?

When you blend essential oils all sort of magic happens. By combing the constituents of different essential oils together they can do different things compared to the single oils on their own.

Each essential oil contains different molecules, both large and small. A good blend will contain a mix of different size molecules. A particular blend may be more effective than another blend or a single essential oil, because of this mix in size, weight, shape and type.

Why does it matter what essential oils you use?

Each essential oil has a different frequency and sometimes when you blend it with another essential oil the result is something not quite right energetically or worse still it stinks. It may even have unintended consequences. This is why when people first start out using essential oils I suggest they use essential oil blends that are already made up or they follow a recipe from someone they trust.

The quality of the essential oils you use also make a huge difference. Our skin is our body’s largest organ. It’s our personal connection with the world and with other people. It’s our protector. It holds us together and keeps us safe. It’s tough but it’s also porous. It can protect us from harm in so many ways… but we need to look after it.

Unfortunately it can’t do its job of protecting us when we cover it with toxic chemicals. So many of these toxic chemicals are absorbed straight into our bodies from the products we put on our skin and on our children’s skin.

As a general rule, if I wouldn’t eat it, I’m not going to put it on my skin and definitely not on my girls’ skin either. So what is the alternative? For me, I use only Young Living’s pure essential oils in my blends, skin care and body care products.

Which Carrier Oil is the best for making essential oil blends?

I use Young Living’s V6 Vegetable Oil in all my essential oil blends for the following reasons:

  • It has no scent so you smell more of the essential oils that you blend with it
  • No colour so it looks great in clear roller bottles and it will not stain clothes
  • Nourishes the skin without clogging pores.
  • Contains complex antioxidant vegetable oils
  • Does not contain synthetic fragrances which are toxic to the immune system or parabens which are oestrogen disruptors.
  • Is a blend of fractionated coconut oil, olive oil, sesame seed oil, almond oil, sunflower oil, wheatgerm oil and grapeseed oil.
  • Has a long shelf life so your blends will last longer without going rancid.

V6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex is perfect to dilute certain essential oils and can be mixed to create custom blends, formulas, and massage oils.
