Essential Oil Succulent Diffuser Pots: A Natural Way to Refresh Your Space

If you’re looking to elevate the ambiance of your home or office, essential oil succulent diffuser pots offer a stylish, low-maintenance, and natural solution. These adorable pots not only bring a touch of greenery into your space but also diffuse the calming and therapeutic properties of essential oils. Whether you’re a fan of aromatherapy or simply love succulents, these diffuser pots combine both worlds in a unique and beautiful way.

What Are Essential Oil Succulent Diffuser Pots?

Succulent diffuser pots are small containers filled with succulents paired with a diffuser stone (volcanic rock, ceramic or clay) that can absorb and gradually release essential oils into the air. These pots work as passive diffusers, meaning they don’t require electricity or heat—making them safe, portable, and energy-efficient.

Benefits of Essential Oil Succulent Diffusers

1. Aromatherapy Benefits

Essential oils are known for their ability to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and uplift your mood. By using essential oils in a succulent diffuser pot, you can fill your space with natural scents that have calming, energising, or balancing effects, depending on the oil you choose. Popular choices include lavender for relaxation, peppermint for energy, and eucalyptus for clearing the mind.

2. Low-Maintenance Decor

One of the greatest things about succulent diffuser pots is that they bring the beauty of plants into your home without the hassle of daily care. I water my succulents with a tiny amount of water once a week.

3. Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective

Since succulent diffuser pots don’t require electricity, they are eco-friendly and cost-effective compared to electric diffusers. They provide a steady release of essential oils, allowing you to enjoy the benefits for hours or even days, depending on the oil’s strength and the pot’s size.

4. Versatile and Portable

These pots are small enough to fit in any space—whether it’s your desk at work, a shelf at home, or a nightstand in your bedroom. I like to have one in the toilet where there isn’t a powerpoint to plug in a diffuser. They’re also great for travel, making it easy to bring your favourite essential oil scent with you wherever you go.

How to create a succulent diffuser pot?

1. Choose a pot.⠀⠀

2. Add a layer of rocks on the bottom of your pot. The size of the layer will depend on the size of the pot. A pumice stone layer is important because succulents do not need a lot of water; this layer of stone will allow the water to drain from the roots. Be sure to add this step especially if you have a ceramic pot that does not have a drainage hole.⠀⠀

3. Layer a small amount of soil on top of the rocks, so the roots are able to grow.⠀⠀

4. Choose your succulents and plant them in your pot. You can plant one or more depending on the look you want and the size of your pot. ⠀⠀

5. Add more soil around your succulents. As you add a succulent to your pot, you may need to add soil too. Once all of the succulents are balanced in the pot, add more soil around them to keep your plants secure. ⠀⠀

6. Decorate the top of your succulent terrarium with Lava stones. I have bought black and red ones from Bunnings. ⠀⠀

7. Add your choice of YOUNG LIVING essential oils to the lava stones to create a natural succulent diffuser. I love to add Citronella or Purification for the ones that are on my verandah and Joy essential oil blend or Harmony essential oil blend to the ones indoors.⠀⠀

How to Use Essential Oil Succulent Diffuser Pots

1. Choose Your Essential Oil

Start by selecting an essential oil that fits your mood or the atmosphere you want to create. For a calming effect, go for lavender, chamomile, or sandalwood. For a refreshing or invigorating environment, choose citrus oils like lemon or orange, or opt for eucalyptus or peppermint.

2. Apply the Oil

Gently drip a few drops of your chosen essential oil onto the faux succulent leaves. The porous material will absorb the oil and release the scent gradually. For real succulents, you can place a small cotton ball or lava rock under the plant in the pot and apply the oil there.

3. Enjoy the Aroma

As the oil diffuses into the air, enjoy the soothing or energizing effects it brings to your space. Reapply the oil as needed, usually every couple of days, to maintain the scent’s strength.
