Make 3 gorgeous Mothers Day gifts

Mothers Day Gifts Bath Bombs

When I was a little girl going to Brownies and then Girl Guides I always used to make my own Mothers Day gifts. Our Brown Owl was certainly a fan of Lavender as I remember making lavender draw sachets, Lavender coat hangers and even these little round lavender bags to hang on your coat hangers. The things you remember from childhood!

Somehow making your own handmade gifts seems more personal. Even my girls love making me something special. If you would like to make your own gifts this year, then here are 3 of my favourite recipes to try.

There’s my famous Choc Orange Lip Balm, Roller Bottle Perfume and Bath Bombs. You can buy roller bottles in my shop and bath bomb moulds from eBay.

  • Melt the beeswax and coconut oil in a double boiler
  • Add the essential oils and raw cacao powder and stir till combined.
  • Using a syringe, fill up the lip balm tubes.
  • Let cool before using them.
  • They will melt so keep them in a cool place.

Bath Bomb Recipe

Ingredients:

Method:

  • Firstly, in a large, clean mixing bowl, add your dry ingredients. If possible, use a sieve or sifter when adding your dry ingredients to the bowl to ensure they are free of clumps.
  • Mix well.
  • Then, add your essential oils and food colouring (if using) drop by drop and stir into the dry ingredients. It is normal for the mixture to fix a little.
  • Slowly add your carrier oil and witch hazel while mixing the ingredients with your hand or a whisk.
  • Finally, press the mixture into moulds, or use melon ballers to form your bath bombs. Set them onto wax paper to dry. Allow them to dry at least a day, depending on the time of year, temperature and humidity.
  • Most important – keep your bath bombs in an airtight container or bag otherwise they won’t fizz as well at bath time. Drop one or two of the bombs into your bath, then enjoy an aromatic and fizzy bath.
