Why Natural Lipstick? Because NO ONE wants to pucker up to a tube of chemicals!
So, did you know the first man-made (woman-made?) lipsticks appeared around four to five thousand years ago in Ancient Mesopotamia? Rich women then used to grind precious gems and decorate their lips with the dust. Likewise, historians have found that powerful and wealthy Ancient Egyptians used lipsticks regularly. It’s said that Cleopatra liked red lipstick in particular. Cairo Crimson anyone?
Avoid the Kiss of Death!
‘Kiss of Death’ is a term that people commonly associate with lipstick. It was coined because of the ‘femme fatale’ spy who used her poisonous lipstick to kill her unsuspecting victims. However, it’s also appropriate because ever since ancient times people have unknowingly used poisonous materials when making lipstick.
Obviously, you wouldn’t drink toxic chemicals, so why would you put them on your lips? But, if you’re not using an all-natural lipstick, you’re risking ingesting a variety of nasty ingredients like silicone and formaldehyde.
The solution? Get keen on clean makeup instead!

What is Candelilla wax?
Candelilla wax is a natural vegetable wax derived from the leaves of the small Candelilla plant grown in the semi-arid regions of northern Mexico and the southwestern part of the United States. Even though Candelilla and beeswax are similar and share many of the same beneficial properties, the main difference is that Candelilla is a vegan wax, whereas beeswax is considered to be an animal byproduct.
How does Young Living ensure the Candelilla wax it sources for the Savvy Minerals natural lipstick range is safe?
