“I’m going to get healthy this year.” Is that one of your New Year’s Resolutions? I know getting healthy is a desire for many people at the beginning of a new year. However, the reason why a lot of people break their resolutions or simply don’t start is because they fail to have a plan. Their intentions are good but they simply don’t know what to do. Or they have big goals but no action steps to get there. If your goal is to get healthy in 2022 then here are 5 simple action steps to help you.
#1 Have a positive attitude
Positive people are generally healthier than negative people. Being positive may seem super simple but it is harder to achieve than many people think. I believe it is like those Choose Your Own Adventure books you read as a child. You can actually choose to be positive. When you wake up in the morning let your first thought be “Today is going to be a great day”. Write it on a post it note and stick it near your bed so it is the first thing you see each morning. At first you might not believe it but keep it up. The more you tell yourself this the more your subconscious mind will believe it.
Your attitude really does effect your altitude. You can’t go very far in this life without a positive attitude. It is what separates the successful people from the rest. So work on being positive each and every day. It is a lot easier to achieve our goals when we are happy and positive. Positivity not only attracts positive things in to our lives but it actually makes everything better even our immunity.
If you have trouble feeling positive then find an affirmation that speaks to you and then read it a few times daily. Before you read it take a drop of your favourite essential oil in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together in a clockwise motion to energise the essential oil and then inhale the oil as you repeat the affirmation to yourself. #2 Get plenty of sleep
Yep, 8 hours of it. I know we tell ourselves we don’t need that much. We are too busy to get that much, but we need it. Our bodies actually use this downtime to regenerate and rejuvenate. Like positivity the amount of sleep we get actually impacts on our immunity. So if we aren’t getting enough sleep then our chances of staying healthier are reduced. Sleep also impacts on our ability to lose weight and keep it off, on our memory and even on diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
